Films were released under four strands: Optimum Releasing (Theatrical New Releases), Optimum Home Entertainment (DVD, Blue-ray Disc and HD DVD New Releases), Optimum Classic (DVD Re-releases of back catalogue films) and Optimum World (New and Back Catalogue World Cinema). The latter three appear to be still being used, despite the company's name change.

why?
We have chosen these to as possible distributors for our film. Both distribute mainly in thrillers. our film is going to be psychological thriller. We have decided to pick these distributors because they are low budget film distributors that invest heavily in British and American film industry. This will enable us to work closely with the chosen British distributors so we can increase the sales of our film by advertising our film with posters trailers and merchandise which we can sell online and in stores also at theme parks. This is because the distributor is responsible for ensuring a full line of film advertising material is available on each film which it believes will help the exhibitor attract the largest possible audience.

we have made a decision on which distributors we will use to distribute our film consequences. Metrodome distribution and Columbia pictures will be our film distributors. We made this decision based upon their wide range of technology such as film, TV and digital distribution. We could use this to our advantage to sell the film to a wider audience by selling our films and promoting our films through Metrodome and Columbia. Also with the company being a London based trade company we can branch out of our regional boundary to a larger scale national boundary. this will be extended by the American distributors Columbia pictures making our film a world wide creation. we can also use Colombian pictures to involve owners such as drinks company's to product placement of our film product this will increse our promotion for our film. which will involve a larger audience to go and watch out film.

Script research

To help me write the script for our film, I have done some research into script writing so that the script is the best it can be. To produce it, I shall use the programme Celtx.
- A script is a document that outlines every aural, visual, behavioral, and lingual element required to tell a story.
It is crucial to remember that film is visual. You don't tell your audience your story, you show them. You must write what they will see and what they will hear.
Also, the layout is important. Every name, location, action etc. must be in the correct place in the script. (Celtx assists in this area, however).

The elements for a script are:

  • Scene Heading
  • Action
  • Character Name
  • Dialogue
  • Parenthetical
  • Extensions
  • Transition
  • Shot

first 15 minutes film analysis

the film in which i have chosen to analyse is an English film kes the reason for this is that the Genre of our choosing was difficult to get hold of the films in which we researched into for our film ideas. However this film is smiler to ours in a way in which characters are heavily involved throughout. also this film is a low budget film just like ours.

we start with a medium shot of the boy laid in bed as he wakes up as the alarm clock goes off. the camera remains still focusing on the two characters as the conversation takes place over the first 2 minute. Then a cut edit to the character as he is about to leave the room the camera then tilts downwards to capture billy as he turns of the light. the camera then pans across the room following billy As he gets back into bed. It is here where the titles start to appear we are addressed with music non diegetic sound. the camera stays still focusing through the window outside the house. we then cut to a we then cut to a close up of Billy as he exists the house, here the camera pans down the garden focusing on Billy. As Billy leaves the garden he begins to run here the camera begins to track Billy as her begins to run down the street. The camera then stops and Billy continues to run from a medium shot to a long shot. Here the cut is in place to establish the scene when we see a extreme long shot of Billy running up the hill. The camera then pans left following Billy as he continues to run. Back to a tracking shot of Billy running down the street. here a passage of time takes place this is achieved by showing a car as it passes the front of the camera then to Billy as he continues running. the camera then pans as Billy comes to the front of the paper shop. Here the camera cuts to the inside of the shop and the camera pans in a medium shot to the boy picking up his newspaper bag. Here the camera heavily focusing on the boys actions as waits for the customers to leave the shop. similar to our film in the way that they focus heavily in Billy's character like we do in our film following the life of Amy. The camera pans down the street as the boy delivers the papers. Shot reverse shot appears shortly after between the boy and the milk man as the boy picks up the milk and eggs from the can here the tension rises so the edits speed up. the camera then follows the boy as he sits down in the grass the camera tilts. here a cut to a extreme long shot to establish the scene of the mining pit top. As the boy reads the comic book we see a P.O.V in a close up of each section this continues for several minutes.

throughout this first 15 minutes of the film the character Billy is presented as a weak character who is not trust worthy we see this from the dialogue between the shop keeper and the teacher as they speak to Billy. Billy throughout plays a weak character who is an easy target for other people to look down on.

This film is similar to our film in the way in which this film presents the character Billy to be weak and vulnerable. Also this is similar because throughout both films concentrate on a character life.

Location choice

For our film, we need a location that contains everything required in the script and storyboard. In this, we need a point where the main character (Amy) is secluded and has a tree perhaps, to attach the a rope to. With this in mind, we have decided on a wooded area which is easily accessable for the whole group and complies with our ideas and planning. We also hope to film on a day which is raining possibly, as this fits the genre and story. This represents the mood of characters and their lives.

This is the area in which we will film in. This setting fits the criteria and sets the tone of the film in the opening 2 minutes.

the usual susects review evaluated

http://www.imdb.com/list/6wPOuZCwlXk/

the usual suspects review
The Usual Suspects is a rare mix of intricate storytelling and masterful directing, with one of the best twist endings ever. The movie would be worth it just for the ending, but the ending would not be significant without the rest of the story. Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Spacey, Kevin Pollak, Stephen Baldwin, and Benicio Del Toro star in the intriguing movie from Bryan Singer.
The first time I saw this movie, I hated it. The second time, I loved it. The weird thing is that when I first saw it, I found it extremely confusing and somebody had to tell me what the ending meant. The second time I saw it, I wondered how I had found it confusing. Singer lays clues and foreshadowing throughout the movie, and it is almost impossible to miss the conclusion. But somehow I did, and by the reactions from others, they did too.

The movie is confusing, I'll grant it that. It switches back and forth between the present and the past from Verbal's perspective, and sometimes how the movie progresses from one scene to the other is strange. To me, it seemed like the group teamed together to enact revenge on the NYPD, but they then end up doing jobs as professionals.
Still, the directing is superb, the acting is excellent, and the story is interesting. The Usual Suspects is not the fastest movie in the world but it is definitely recommended. If you don't like it the first time, you'll like it the second time. I did.

The films on this link are all similar to our chosen genre. psychological thriller. we consider these films for potential ides for our own film. we want to create a film that's stands out from the group of psychological thriller in the film industry.
CONSEQUENCES - When life gets too much, Amy only has one option. At the age of fifteen, without a real family home due to her father being a low ranked man within the forces, she struggles to fit in with her new life. She soon catches the attention of the school bullies and without a fatherly figure, Amy only sees one way out. Can James stop Amy from making the biggest mistake of her life or have people pushed her too far? - A mind catching story of the consequences of other peoples actions.
